Working Late

It's 11:30 and I'm still at the office...Kelli and Jessi worked late with me tonight which helps the hours go by. Unfortunately, today I wanted time to stop...I didn't get nearly enough work done to reach our unreasonable deadlines. Oh well. We had a chance to chat a little while we worked and even though Kelli and Jessi left for the night, I have my puppies to keep me company.

So cute!

Sunday Skiing

If I were to think of the recipe for a perfect Sunday this would be it:
Waking up to snuggle with our puppies:
Me and Sir:

Russ and Penny:

and Skiing...in our backyard!!
A short hike through the woods directly behind our yard took us to a great ski and snowboard run which we took full advantage of today. SO FUN! Best part: about 20-30 deer crossed our path on the walk there! I love our house!

The view from the top of the hill we skiied/snowboarded down.

A long overdue pic of my awesome new gear: K2 Lotta Luvs (from Telluride) and my new Technica Boots, right before I skiied them down the hill....

Saturday Shopping

Saturday turned out to be a productive and therapeutic day all in one. I woke up and spent the morning snugggling my dogs and my boyfriend and then headed into the office. I called my BF Lauren in CA and put her on speaker so that we could have a thorough chat session while I weeded through my piles of work. I love multi tasking...killing two birds with one stone, if you will ; ). After that, Charissa and I met at the mall for some late afternoon purse shopping. We decided rather last minute to meet up and we got some great girl time in while making some quality purchases. In my book...shopping with a good girlfriend for purses, well it just doesn't get much better than that!
Here are the pictures of our purchases:

Charissa bought a Vera Bradley bag with matching wallet for everyday and a fabulous leather laptop bag to bring to work everyday. I love them both! They look great on her.
I talked Charissa into this red bag because it added such a nice "punch of color" to her look. The store lady agreed.

You can see why we chose this laptop bag. It suits her so well.

Here are my purchases:
A large chocolate brown Coach bag for everyday.

And a new Vera Bradley bag for Spring, and matching wallet... her new pattern, Peacock. I really cannot get enough chocolate brown and turquoise as you can see.

Dijak's Dog Rescue

Well, it has become abundantly clear that our household is an animal refuge. The animals outnumber the humans...and we can't seem to resist a pet in need of a loving home. As of last night, we are yet again trying our hand at helping a dog in need.

Sir is a ten year old Jack Russell terrier, who's owner moved and couldn't take him with her. She was going to take him to the pound, but her brother (our neighbor, Mike) took him in. Mike brought Sir over to meet Russ and it was love at first site. Russ loves Jack Russells so I told him we could give it a try as long as he is friendly with our other animals. Penelope fell in love with him immediately, and they are quite cute together.

I pulled out Max's large dog crate and filled it with a comforter and all of Penny's stuffed toys and put Penny and Sir in there together for the night. They seemed thrilled and have been getting along wonderfully since.

He seems to have adjusted to life in our house and I think he will be happy here

Crack Whore

I'd like to start by giving credit where credit is due. CJ came up with the name for this post. See below:

Russ and I met CJ, Charissa and her new man Joe out the other night for dinner and drinks at Mt. Washington Tavern. Angie and Donna, we missed you! We were having a very nice evening, catching up and throwing back a few cold ones when the above "crack whore" sat near us. In case you can't tell from the picture...that is her butt crack and that is her thong. We immediately took bets on how many men would run over from various areas of the bar to see it. We stopped counting after ten. Literally every man must have done at least one walk through to check out the scene. So, ladies, if you're looking for a man...have your friend wear an obvious thong to the bar and within minutes you will have no shortage of men to choose from.
Here are some pictures from the night:

Our Snow Day

Well we've been hit with a major storm and everything in Maryland is closed down. For the past two days we've been hit with snow and freezing rain which has iced everything over. Russ and I opted to close our offices today and spent a good amount of time playing outside in the snow with Sam, and building a bonfire with the neighbors.

Sam's snow mask- ice mask actually...

Crazy Cold Weather

It's been about 10 degrees here for the past week or two. Everyone needs to bundle up to go outdoors...which has resulted in some good pictures...

Sam and neighbor, Alex just before heading out to play in the snow:

Even Penny is layering to keep warm:

At my old job we worked in a building without windows...we never knew what the weather was doing outside. Most days, I worked so long that I would go a week without seeing daylight. The other day, we saw our first snow fall from our office, which as you can see, has an entire wall of windows, ceiling to floor. It was gorgeous. I loved seeing the snow fall in the woods from my desk...and so did everyone else in the office.

Another Home Improvement Project

Yesterday I decided to paint our office/den/reading room. The room was originally a very pale baby blue that didn't really suit the space. We have an oak desk and a big chocolate brown couch and the room felt somewhat cold with the light blue. I've been rather obsessed with turquoise and chocolate brown lately and I was excited to have a room to really decorate with this color palette. I'm a really bad painter, and I really don't like doing it, so this was quite a job for me. I originally set out to leave the baby blue base and paint turquoise stipes...but after three painful stripes I wasn't loving the effect so I decided to paint the whole room. You know how I love before and after shots, so here they are. My camera phone does not do the color justice...it is pretty turquoise and it looks awesome!
